More Chosen

Still building some of my chosen!  I usually hate metal models but these have been pretty easy and fun.  After these 6 I still need to do 3 more!  I will probably pick up another pack of 5 so that I have an even 20 just incase.

Evolution - Part 2

In continuing with the search for my prefered "all comers" list I have purged the troll patrol.  Essentially they have been replaced by two units of Khorne Warriors that are usually formed 6x3.  I have played this list 5 times.  I have won 3 times drawn once and lost once.  I have taken the time here to address the issue of not having a way other than the wizard to harrass warmachines by including two exalted heroes on discs.  Between the two discs, heaven bolts and the warshrines I do "ok" with harrassment.  List is as follows:

Sorcerer Lord-Lvl 4
-Infenral Puppet
-Armour of Silvered Steel
-Necrotic Phylactery
*Usually takes lore of heavens

Exalted Hero of Tzeentch
-BSB
-Dragonhelm
-Talisman of Endurance

Chosen of Tzeentch x 17
-Full Command
-Halberds
-Shields
-Banner of Rage
-Favour of the Gods

Chaos Warriors of Khorne x 18
-Full Command
-Halberds
-Shields

Chaos Warriors of Khorne x 18
-Full Command
-Halberds
-Shields

Chaos Marauders of Khorne x 45
-Full Command
-Great Weapons

Chaos Warshrine of Tzeentch x2

All in all I am pretty satisfied with it.  I still wish I could squeeze in some hounds and at least one hell cannon...... hmmmm...  also although the attacks are awesome I believe I am going to try this without any frenzy or at least remove it from the warriors and maybe even chosen.  I would like them to not have to persue and sometimes the enemy I attack is hearty enough not to die completely but they break setting me up to be flanked or worse reared.  Perhaps nurgle is the way....

Evolution - Part 1

In this (hopefully) mini series I want to annotate the chronicles of my journey to establishing an all comers list. An all comers list is definitely something I like to make sure I have ready first thing. This enables me to paint and get "done" so that I can then experiment with other lists without neglecting my ability to participate in events.

The first incarnation of this list came to me after some serious thoughts on the games I had the previous couple of months with my VC. I had been having some serious problems with heroes and lords... specifically their armor. I thought of course that halberds on warriors/exalted and great weapons on some khorne marauders would clean up but the truth is a minus 2 or 3 wasn't enough. I wanted to eliminate the armor save all together or at least minus 4.

That is when my troll patrol was born! This list performed very well for me:

Sorcerer Lord-Lvl 4
-Infenral Puppet
-Armour of Silvered Steel
-Third Eye
-Necrotic Phylactery
*Usually takes lore of heavens

Exalted Hero of Tzeentch
-BSB
-Dragonhelm
-Talisman of Endurance

Troll King Throgg

Chosen of Tzeentch x 18
-Full Command
-Halberds
-Shields
-Banner of Rage
-Favour of the Gods

Trolls x 7

Trolls x 8

Chaos Marauders of Khorne x 50
-Full Command
-Great Weapons

Chaos Warshrine of Tzeentch x2

Throgg goes in the unit of 7 trolls and the BSB and Sorc Lord wherever needed although usually in the unit of chosen (to hopefully bolster his 2+ armor with a 3+ ward from the eye of the gods). My reasoning for trolls instead of ogres is that after it's all said and done (at least in my gaming club/area) most 4+ armor saves turn into either 6's or no save due to lore of shadow or many other str buffing lores. I figured if I'm not going to end up having a save at all I might as well have a 4+ (regen) most of the time and when I don't get it because of flaming attacks they aren't any worse off than the ogres would be in the other 90% of cases. Also, being able to vomit as a supporting attack is quite nice and denying armor saves has saved my bacon!

Double shrine there of course to try to ensure a 12 on the EoTG table. Also having two has been very nice when needing to support my other units. I am unsure what anyone elses exeperience has been with 50 Marauders but they have done really well for me so far.

Of course first concern is that I have no "real" way of dealing with warmachines at all aside from commet or some form of thunder from heavens. No hellcannon is another thing that worries me but alas there's the first evolution of my all comers list. Like I said before, it has performed incredibly well, however, a couple of things were brought up in a discussion I had with some friends. The trolls inability to cope well with initiative test spells is horrendous. I could indeed lose the lot of them to a single purple sun. Flamming attacks were something else that was brought up but like I said before I do not care much about that. Initiative tests were enough for me to change the list (although it will always have a special place in my heart and I still play it from time to time). Next time.... no trolls......

The Beginning

This blog is for one of my three favorite armies in WFB. I also play O&G and VC. I am hoping to use this as a journal of tactics, battle reports, painting, modelling etc... for my WoC army. Hopefully this will also serve to inspire/entertain others. Thanks or reading!
